Volunteer With The Hall

The Alex Moulton Charitable Trust is dedicated to preserving, restoring, and maintaining The Hall and its seven arches of surrounding historic grounds. We welcome passionate and committed individuals eager to make a positive impact within the local community and beyond.

We cannot do the work we do without the amazing support we get from all of our hard-working volunteers who offer their time and expertise in promoting and preserving the estate and its industrial and engineering collection by way of walking tours and events and the maintenance of this magnificent Grade I-listed Jacobean mansion.

The Alex Moulton Charitable Trust has a range of opportunities for volunteers, who play a vital role in helping us look after the estate, deliver our charitable objectives and run our popular events programme.

We currently have the following volunteer roles available:

Grounds Maintenance

Volunteer gardeners perform a vital role in helping the Trust maintain the historic grounds of The Hall estate. Working as a team with staff and other volunteers, you will help us to ensure the grounds are safe, tidy and looking their best in all seasons.

Our garden team meet every Wednesday from 10:00 - 13:00 and is supervised by our head gardener, Tom. You do not need to commit to coming every week.

House Tour Guide

Our tour guides are vital in bringing The Hall to life, welcoming our visitors and imparting their knowledge of the history of the house. Tour guide volunteers should be well-versed in the history, geography, culture, and traditions of The Hall and Bradford on Avon and be able to engage an audience with charisma and personality.

This role will suit individuals who are confident and who have an enthusiastic and friendly manner, who have an interest in local history and who enjoy meeting new people.

House tours occur throughout the year and volunteers can choose which dates and tours to manage.

Event Assistant

We hold events throughout the year in which crowds gather on our grounds to enjoy a picnic, immersive themselves in a live musical concert or simply wander our magnificent seven acres of exquisite grounds.

Our event assistant volunteer ensures our guests enjoy their experience by:

  • Taking payment for tickets at the front gate

  • Checking pre-paid tickets for correct information

  • Upselling additional services such as events and tours

  • Running our information centre and providing directions to visitors

This role will suit individuals who are friendly and passionate about excellent customer service.
