Alex Moulton Centenary 2020 - 100 words on Alex Moulton

As we celebrate Alex Moulton’s Centenary, the Alex Moulton Charitable Trust is inviting those who knew Alex and/or his designs to contribute “100 words on Alex Moulton” to help to build  a collection of informative and insightful literary sketches of this remarkable man and his creations. We are not being strict on the number of words, but the idea is to keep it reasonably spontaneous and not onerous. As Alex himself would say when an idea came up: “Get it down on paper.”

Please send any contributions via this email link - please let us know if you are happy for your words to be published on our site, and please include a suitable photograph if possible.

We start this series off with 100 words from Tom Esslemont, editor of the Moulton Bicycle Club magazine ‘The Moultoneer’ - and you can now view our ‘100 words on Alex Moulton’ page here.

Alex Moulton, someone whom I can say I was lucky enough to know, corresponding on a regular basis and on visits to The Hall for The Moultoneer business. Inspiring. Straight talking; a man who didn't suffer fools, yet a man who, through his wisdom and creative genius, touched the lives of so many. Those who drive or drove certain BMC / BL cars of the 60s through to the 90s would have ridden on Moulton suspension, others who ride his wondrous bicycles continue to enjoy this revolutionary and scarce stage, where rubber and steel combine, just as engineering and art do.
