Handstitched Lampshade

£65.00

Individually designed and handmade, this high-quality hand turned lamp base made from mango wood comes with a unique handstitched lampshade showcasing the stunning grounds of The Hall and the distinctive silhouette of Dr Alex Moulton riding his iconic Moulton Bicycle.

About the artist

Having moved to Bradford on Avon just before lockdown in 2020, textile artist Mary Lu Mitchell has found inspiration around every corner; the charm and beauty of the cottages lining the hillside and the tranquillity of the river and canal very soon found their way into her creations!

Mary works with free motion embroidery and raw edge applique, which is a form of textile art achieved on a sewing machine. The result is quite sketchy and lends itself to the “shabby chic” look which has become popular of late. After a career teaching and then latterly working for the NHS, Mary is now retired and spends her time indulging her passion!
