Vintage Mini Christmas Cards
Handstitched set of three vintage mini Christmas cards featuring the classic Mini. Mini designer Alec Issigonis and Alex Moulton were great friends and daring collaborators, with The Hall providing a stimulating setting for many brainstorming and conceptual conversations between the pair in which the initial ideas for the Mini and its innovative engineering would come to fruition.
The ground-breaking rubber suspension system designed by Alex Moulton would make the Mini one of the most popular British cars of all time.
About the artist
Having moved to Bradford on Avon just before lockdown in 2020, textile artist Mary Lu Mitchell has found inspiration around every corner; the charm and beauty of the cottages lining the hillside and the tranquillity of the river and canal very soon found their way into her creations!
Mary works with free motion embroidery and raw edge applique, which is a form of textile art achieved on a sewing machine. The result is quite sketchy and lends itself to the “shabby chic” look which has become popular of late. After a career teaching and then latterly working for the NHS, Mary is now retired and spends her time indulging her passion!
