Guided Tour of The Hall Estate

£16.00

For over 400 years, The Hall Estate has been a place of vision and transformation. First home to the Hall family and later to the Moulton family, the estate became closely linked to innovation that helped shape Britain’s woollen, rubber, and automotive industries.

Among its most notable residents was Stephen Moulton, the pioneering industrialist who introduced vulcanised rubber to Bradford-on-Avon, transforming the town into a centre of industrial innovation. His grandson, Dr Alex Moulton, became one of Britain’s most celebrated engineers, whose groundbreaking work reshaped modern automotive and bicycle design — from the iconic Moulton Bicycle to the revolutionary rubber suspension system developed for the Mini.

Allow yourself to be enveloped in timeless elegance as you explore seven historic rooms across three floors, uncovering the fascinating stories woven into the fabric of our 17th-century Jacobean mansion. Led by knowledgeable guides, each tour brings to life the people, ideas, and innovations that have shaped this remarkable house, offering the opportunity to step inside one of England’s finest Jacobean mansions.

New for 2026: The Alice Room – A Hidden Art Collection Revealed

In 2026, we open the doors to a room never before revealed to the public: The Alice Room, named in honour of Dr Alex Moulton’s grandmother. This newly unveiled exhibition space showcases the rich tapestry of personal art collected by the renowned engineer, designer and visionary.

Featuring original works by Alessandro Mendini, Charlie Louie La Salle, and others, the collection reflects Alex Moulton’s deep appreciation for artistry, design and creative expression. His friendships with artists often resulted in bespoke pieces created specifically for him, offering an intimate insight into his world and influences.

Recently discovered in the attic, this impressive private collection will be displayed publicly for the very first time. Available for a limited time only, the Alice Room offers a rare opportunity to experience a hidden chapter of The Hall’s cultural and design heritage.

Every guided tour directly supports the Alex Moulton Charitable Trust, with proceeds contributing to the ongoing preservation and restoration of The Hall Estate, ensuring it can be protected and shared with future generations.

Please note: Your ticket also includes access to seven acres of private grounds, allowing time to explore and enjoy the wider estate.
